Pirates of Penzance

Pirates of Penzance - Sasha Regan

By W.S. Gilbert & A. Sullivan
A Regan de Wynter production
Directed by Sasha Regan

On December 10th, 1879, Arthur Sullivan wrote a letter to his mother about a new opera, upon which he was hard at work in New York. “I think that it will be a great success, for it is exquisitely funny and the music is strikingly tuneful.”

True enough, The Pirates of Penzance was an immediate hit and takes its place today as one of the most popular and enduring pieces of Gilbert & Sullivan’s work.

In 2010, Sasha Regan’s extraordinary all-male production of The Pirates of Penzance became a huge hit when it transferred from the tiny Union Theatre to Wilton’s Music Hall, London and was named Best Off-West End Production at The What’s On Stage Awards.

This irreverently funny and entirely fresh take on The Pirates of Penzance is a must-see for lovers of all things musical, comedic and high-camp!

“As brilliant and heretical as Matthew Bourne’s vision of Swan Lake... It hits that perfect tone between silliness and  sentimentality that this delightful operetta warrants. Pure joy.” -
