Award-winning Kyiv-based Ukrainian quartet DakhaBrakha have announced their return to Australia and New Zealand in March 2027. Continuing their mission to connect Ukraine with the world, they will perform at WOMADelaide (SA), Hamer Hall at Arts Centre Melbourne (VIC), WOMAD Aotearoa (NZ-
Tāmaki Makaurau), the Concert Hall at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QLD), and City Recital Hall, Sydney (NSW).

Global ambassadors for Ukrainian music and culture, DakhaBrakha are renowned for their extraordinary fusion of Ukrainian folk traditions, global rhythms and contemporary sounds.

Performing the songs from their latest album release Ptakh (2025) – which combines material created before and during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 – DakhaBrakha returns to the Southern Hemisphere to tell their incredible story. Meaning ‘Give/Take’ in the old language, DakhaBrakha masterfully blend traditional music with influences from around the world.

To them, it’s more important than ever that traditional Ukrainian music gets its moment in the sun, something they’ve achieved through performing on stages across the globe, including at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, WOMAD UK, and at Glastonbury Festival.

DakhaBrakha uses Ukrainian polyphony as its foundation, weaving techniques, sounds and structures from Arabia, India, Africa, Australia and more to create what they describe as their coined-term ‘ethno-chaos’. What the band is best known for however, is their astonishingly powerful and uncompromising vocal range used to tell their incredible story and shared between quartet members Nina Garenetska, Olena Tsybulska, Iryna Kovalenko and Marko Halanevych, alongside founding director Vladyslav Troitskyi.

The quartet’s unexpected music mixes beating drums and the soft bass of a cello: blending the traditional sounds of Ukrainian music with contemporary techniques, all while paying homage to their heritage and history. This along with influences of jazz, rap, punk, and even nature, create a chaotic yet beautiful sound. DakhaBrakha are renowned for – set to touch and mesmerise audiences, as they share their incredibly powerful story through music.

After sold-out performances in 2024, DakhaBrakha return with their Australia and New Zealand 2027 tour.
