The Manganiyar Classroom - Roysten Abel (India)

Highlighting the Manganiyar musical traditions of Rajasthan, The Manganiyar Classroom by Roysten Abel features a theatrically inspired staging where 28 boys aged 8 to 16, all inheritors of threatened musical traditions, battle hilariously with the rigid conformity demanded of the classroom but where a joyous and exuberant musical celebration triumphs. It is also director Roysten Abel’s way of providing a future for these young artists; the project directly funds a school for Manganiyar children.
