DakhaBrakha (Ukraine)

Following their acclaimed sold-out performances in 2024, award-winning Ukrainian quartet DakhaBrakha return to Australia and New Zealand with their extraordinary blend of Ukrainian folk traditions, global rhythms and contemporary sounds.

From Kyiv, Ukraine comes DakhaBrakha, a quartet of self-described “ethno chaos.” Meaning ‘Give/Take’ in the old language, DakhaBrakha masterfully blend traditional music with influences from around the world — helping audiences view Ukrainian culture not as a monolith, but as a cosmopolitan culture that takes in others and gives in return.

DakhaBrakha builds upon Ukrainian polyphony as its foundation, interweaving complex rhythmic and melodic structures from Arabia, India, Africa, Australia, and beyond with influences of jazz, rap, punk, and even nature to create a chaotic fusion of sound; a chaos they find strength in, drawing in strands of music that connect Ukraine with the world. To them, it’s more important than ever that traditional Ukrainian music gets its moment in the sun, something they’ve achieved through performances at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, WOMAD UK, and at Glastonbury Festival.

In 2025, the band recorded Ptakh in Kyiv, which combines material created both before and during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022. In March 2027, they return to the Southern Hemisphere to tell their incredible story.

Don’t miss this chance to experience DakhaBrakha live in concert.

“One of the most sonically inventive contemporary groups in any genre.”
